Area of the project - Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Churu and Hanumangarh district, Project started - April 2013, Financial support - World Bank, Government of India and National Dairy Development Scheme-1, Collaborating institutions - Rajasthan Livestock Development Board Veterinary CollegeRajasthan Cooperative Dairy Union, Jaipur Seaman Station, BassiMain objectives of the project: Conservation and promotion of the Rathi breed of cows. To encourage animal parents and farmers to artificial insemination. To increase the capacity of milk production per animal. To produce excellent Rathi breed bulls. To improve the breed by breeding out-of-breed cows with Rathi breed bulls. To make available the excellent Rathi breed bulls to the Semen Bank. To provide services of Rathi breed artificial insemination to the cattle rearers at a minimum amount. Artificial insemination of animals of cattle rearers with the best quality Rathi bull seed. And free examination of cows at the doorstep of cattle rearers and counselling. Organization of free animal health camps at the village level.Main activities of the project: Establishment of artificial insemination centers in selected and surveyed villages and selection of workers. And getting selected workers trained for artificial insemination. To do artificial insemination. Milk measurement of cows of excellent Rathi breed. Organization of village-level meetings. Organization of infertility prevention camps. Organization of publicity camps. Organization of village-level conference rally. Establishment and operation of conference rearing station. Collection and rearing of excellent Rathi bulls. And organizing the meeting of the Project Management Committee. And organizing training for supervisors.Main outputs from the work being carried out under the project as detailed above:And the association of farmers towards artificial insemination is visible.And awareness about the adverse effects of natural conception has increased among cattle rearers.And by improving the local cow breeds, the Rathi breed has increased.And there has been an improvement in daily milk production in the animals of the livestock farmers associated with the project.
